Mount Bromo is circled by four regencies, namely Pasuruan, Malang, Probolinggo, and Lumajang. Yet, you can also access it through Surabaya. Then, how to get to Mount Bromo from those routes? Below is the explanation:

1. Pasuruan Entrance

If you live around Pasuruan, you can go to Mount Bromo from this city. You can drive to Tosari Village down to the sandy and steep road. When you are already on the sandy road, it is recommended to rent a Jeep near the village since the area can be challenging for car drivers. Then, you will arrive at the west of Mount Bromo.

2. Probolinggo Entrance

Going to Mount Bromo from Probolinggo means that you will arrive at the north gate. To do so, you can drive to Tongas and reach the Cemorolawang gate. The Bromo region road is not as overwhelmed as other routes. Furthermore, the inclines there are not very steep. Therefore, you can walk or ride a motorcycle from this path.

3. Malang Entrance

The next route you can take is the Malang entrance, which will bring you to the north gate. To reach the mountain, you can go to Tumpang and then Pronojiwo. If you choose this route, you can have a pleasing and fresh forest scenery.

Arriving at Pronojiwo, you can continue to Ranu Pane or the sandy road, both will take you to the sandy area on the south of Mount Bromo.

4. Alternative Route from Lumajang

Lumajang becomes the alternative route that can bring you to Ranu Pane, and then to the sandy area at the south gate. You can also access it by riding a motorcycle for 3 hours. However, you must note that this route can be foggy and quiet, so make sure to drive at noon to keep safe.

5. Surabaya Route

If you are a solo traveler or with a group who travels using a train, bus, or plane, the Surabaya route is suitable for you! Arriving at Surabaya, you can choose to either go to the Pasuruan route or the Probolinggo route. Once reaching Mount Bromo, you can rent a Jeep to drive to the sandy area.

How Long to Climb Mount Bromo?

Those routes explained above will approximately take 1.5 to 3 hours of driving. Additionally, depending on how rapidly you can pull yourself up the sandy hill, it takes 20 to 30 minutes for the process.

Your body fitness, preparation, and the Mount Bromo weather also affect the duration of the summit. Therefore, you must prepare everything before trekking to the grande mountain.

Regarding the weather, it is best to visit Mount Bromo during the dry season, or April to October, when the sky is clear and less rainy. In addition, the stunning sunrise vista from the summit of Bromo remains unobstructed throughout these months. Besides that, visitors can witness the breathtaking smoke emerging from the crater.

Nevertheless, Mount Bromo is still available even during periods when the weather is not as pleasant as it is from April to October. However, you should be ready for erratic weather conditions and the possibility of experiencing the rainy season.

Also, it is advised to arrive at Mount Bromo at 4 am to take in the greatest view. In doing so, you will be able to witness the gorgeous dawn and enhance your vacation experience.

What to Prepare for Before Mount Bromo Summit?

Whether you are a solo backpacker or visiting with a group of individuals, it is important to stay prepared for hiking. Here are things you must note before hiking the Mount Bromo:

1. Warm and Proper Attire

First, make sure you pack and wear proper attire like jackets, layered clothes, gloves, masks, shawls, socks, and hiking shoes. The temperature at the mountain could reach 10 degrees Celcius or less, making it important for you to stay warm.

2. Water and Water Bottle

Since the trek will be challenging and the weather can be very dry, you must stay hydrated by bringin water with you. If you want a simpler choice, you can take mineral water with you but do not forget to store the trash until you find a trash bin.

Make sure the water you bring is enough for you or the team. Before the summit, you can also purchase some at the nearest small shop if you think you need more water.

3. Rainfly Tent

If you want to view the dawn at the top of Bromo Hills, you should remain overnight. Prepare a tent, or you can hire one in the surrounding region.

When you’re camping in an area prone to wild weather, your tent needs to be more than just any shelter. It’s got to be the kind with a rainfly and hooks on all four corners. Why? This setup will keep your tent standing strong even when the winds start howling. You’ll sleep a lot easier knowing your tent is tough enough to handle whatever nature throws at it!
