DAY 1 / BALI - BANYUWANGI
Get ready to be picked up between 9.00 a.m. to 10.00 a.m. by our driver who will take you to Gilimanuk Ferry Port. After departing from your hotel in Bali, you will reach the port in approximately 5 hours. Then, we will continue the trip by crossing the Bali Strait via ferry for about 1 hour. Upon arriving at Ketapang Port in Java, we will drive directly to your hotel in the Banyuwangi area to check-in and take a rest for the midnight adventure.
DAY 2 / MOUNT IJEN - BROMO AREA
Get prepared at midnight and we will start the trip by driving you to Paltuding, the basecamp of Mount Ijen. Upon arrival, you will have a coffee break and a safety briefing with your local guide. Afterwards we will begin a 2-hour trek to Ijen Crater. Here, you can get the chance to witness the dazzling blue lava-like rivers of light known as the Blue Fire phenomenon, visible only in total darkness. You will also see the traditional sulfur miners working inside the crater. Next, we will hike to the crater rim as the sun rises to see a panoramic view of Mount Ijen’s stunning turquoise acidic lake. After enjoying the view, we will descend back to the basecamp, where a convenient breakfast box will be provided. We will then begin the scenic drive to your hotel in the Bromo area, where you will check in and rest overnight, recharging for the next day's adventure.
Get ready to be picked up at 2.00 am by a 4WD-vehicle to experience the bumpy road to reach Mt. Penanjakan, which is the best spot to enjoy the breathtaking scene of Bromo sunrise. Driving down the hill, you will pass the vast sea of sand, resulting from the eruption of Mt. Bromo, in a 30 minute-easy track all the way to the peak. From the crater rim, you can see the active Bromo crater, caldera and the mountainous views of Mt. Batok and the highest mountain in Java Island, Mt. Semeru. Also, you can find the Hindu temple reflecting the Majapahit history. If you are lucky, you will be able to witness the Yadnya Kasada ceremony, a Tenggerese festival held every 14th of the Kasada month, to honor Sang Hyang Widhi the Almighty God, Roro Anteng the daughter of King Majapahit and Joko Seger the son of Brahmana. After breakfast and freshen up, you will head to your drop-off point (Bali/Surabaya/Malang). If your drop-off is in Bali: Enjoy a scenic drive across East Java to Gilimanuk Ferry Port (6 hours). Cross the Bali Strait by ferry (2 hours), then continue the drive to your hotel in Bali (5-6 hours, depending on location and traffic).
If your drop-off is in Surabaya or Malang: You will take a direct drive from Bromo (approx. 2-3 hours).
