Looking to escape the typical tourist path and dive into Yogyakarta’s wild side? This full-day tour is designed for adventurers who want to push their limits while soaking up the raw beauty of nature. You’ll start with an unforgettable descent into the vertical sinkhole of Jomblang Cave, where sunlight cuts through the darkness like a spotlight from heaven. The underground forest and ancient rock formations make this one of Indonesia’s most jaw-dropping natural wonders.
Then, the adventure continues at Pindul Cave, where you’ll float through cool, underground rivers on a cave tubing journey surrounded by bats, sparkling stalactites, and centuries-old rock formations. It's wet, muddy, mysterious — and totally thrilling.
About Jomblang Cave
Jomblang Cave is a legendary vertical cave located in Gunung Kidul, Yogyakarta. What makes it special is the 60-meter-deep sinkhole that leads into a hidden forest beneath the surface — a phenomenon created by a geological collapse thousands of years ago. At the right moment in the morning, sunlight beams into the cave in a phenomenon often called “The Light of Heaven.”
To reach the bottom, you'll be rappelled down by a professional team using a rope and harness. Once inside, you'll trek through mud and ancient rock corridors until you reach the main chamber, where the light show begins. Due to safety limits, only 80 people can enter the cave per day. That’s why we start early — to make sure you’re guaranteed a spot!
About Pindul Cave
Pindul Cave offers a gentler, but no less exciting, caving experience. Using a rubber tube, you’ll float through a river that winds its way beneath the earth. Along the way, you'll spot glistening stalactites, hear the sounds of bats above, and enjoy the serenity of a natural underground river.
This section is perfect for cooling down after your muddy trek at Jomblang and provides a unique contrast between two very different types of caves — one vertical, one horizontal.
